Well. A new journal entry.
The contest is below, if your looking for the rules.
If your a Watcher, the rant is about to come. Plez comment and lets try to pimp dis contest out, alright? Two new contest entries too.

Check 'em.

Last week I did it for the first time ever.

I tried to DM a game of D&D while drinking some beers. It was weird- think of God or Christ or Buddha, but drunk. Power tends to spread out of control in such situations. Which I realized afterward, to my chagrin.

Oy.

Any way, this isn't about that. Well, a little. I thought I'd try to share some of my joy for D&D with you. Or roleplaying games in general. Pencil and Paper games have that effect on me. Its worth working a job it the money lets me play my games.

Now the reason I like D&D should be obvious: I'm a storyteller. I love stories. I'm so hooked on making stuff up I have oodles and oodles of notebooks that are full of the ideas. Only a few ever make it to novel form. Many others are flops.

But to tell a story with someone else to help collaborate... that is the benefit of D&D. Its great for that. DMs can channel a plot and let others control the characters... its truly grand when done right. Horrible when not. Well. Somewhere in between.

My campaign right now i...

A recent journal got me thinking. Then again, a lot of things get me thinking. Shakespeare for example, or large explosions involving propane.

Ahem.

I find my self draw toward the Undead. Note, that by Undead, I mean the root western civilization monstrosity. As much as I love zombies, the word comes from Voodoo, and the actions of the named creature is more in line with a Revenant than a Zombie. Zombies serve, Revenants shamble about, seeking revenge.

And they are vicious.

In undead myth, most of them, a immortal being can arise from a person who had committed a certain action. These actions can be either totally evil or totally good. Deadshot McCraw, for example, is one such creation of mine.

This line of thought did one thing to me. I've decided from now on, that all undead must have committed such an event before they died. I mean, its critical to defining a character. Hell, Lord Soth (from Dragonlance) is the best example of this: A knight in shining armor, when he is given a chance to spare his world great pain, his love for a woman gives him a destination for Doom. The Gods of his world cursed Soth. He became a undead monster, cursed to live with the eternal reminders of his fate. (Theres waaay more to it, but going through it isn't worth the effort).

So thats my new rule for my undead characters: depth by curse. Makes more sense then just making up some vampyre who smiles like an asshole and smokes cigars.

Oh yeah, and the contest! I'm still lookin' fer some entries you know.

Go ahead. Enter.

Contest.
OF DOOM!

I asked and was told, 'yes we want you to do a contest, haram it!'

Heres how I'm going to do it. I'll explain the rules, and you submit your entry to me via the note button.
